Fillings/Bonding in Albuquerque, NM

Dental bonding and fillings are an advanced and attractive alternative to amalgam fillings and invasive dental correction techniques. Fillings and bondings comprising composite resins are used to fill cavities, conceal cracks, correct gaps, or hide discoloration. White fillings are designed to color match your natural teeth and intensely improve their appearance. At A Better Smile Dentistry in Albuquerque, New Mexico, we provide affordable dental bonding treatments that can enhance your smile and restore your self-confidence.

What Are Bonding/ White Fillings?

Bonding and white fillings are also known as composite fillings. They are made from a unique acrylic composite resin color-matched with the existing natural enamel structure. The resin is reasonably translucent and white and addresses chips, cavities, cracks, gapped teeth, and many more. The fillings and bondings are designed to fill teeth where natural dental material is absent.

What Are the Uses of Dental Bondings/ Fillings?

  • Replace failing or unattractive silver amalgam fillings
  • Fix gaps between teeth
  • Lengthen teeth
  • Soften sharp or jagged teeth
  • Cover tooth stains and discoloration
  • Replace damaged porcelain veneers
  • Repair fractured teeth

The Bonding / White Fillings Procedure

Cleaning

Our dentist, Dr. Bao, will first clean the affected tooth and remove all the debris from the area.

Prepare the Tooth

The tooth will be prepared by removing some dental structure and shaping the natural tooth as required. Once the tooth is shaped, we will start the filling process.

Applying the Bonding Agent

Then we will apply the bonding agent on the prepared tooth to ensure the resin adheres well to the underlying natural tooth structure.

Adding the Filling

Once the bonding agent is in position, we will place the filling and shape it to match the natural contours of your existing tooth and ensure that the joint is smooth and seamless.

Curing

The final step of the filling treatment is to harden the filling with laser light to ensure it is solid, stable, and remains in position.

How to Maintain Dental Bonding/ Fillings?

Dental bonding and fillings are intended to last for several years. However, like natural teeth, they are vulnerable to stains and wear. Chronic decay, a cavity between the composite margin and the natural tooth, can result from inadequate oral hygiene. Tea, coffee, wine, cigarettes, and other substances may stain the resin and affect the appearance of your teeth if consumed regularly. Therefore, it is vital to maintain a healthy dental care routine and visit your dentist twice a year to ensure the integrity of your restorations. Should your dental bonding or fillings become discolored or damaged over time, they can easily be removed and replaced.
