Dental Implants in Albuquerque, NM

Dental implants have become a popular choice for all patients with missing teeth. Earlier, only dentures were looked upon as a restorative option for your missing teeth. But with the advancements in dental science, dental implants have become a more sought-after form of treatment. This procedure also improves your smile and oral health, apart from providing tooth functionality.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that we implant surgically to replace your missing teeth. They are used for both a single missing tooth and multiple teeth. An implant comprises three parts: a metal post (stud), an abutment, and a crown.

The titanium post or stud acts like the natural roots of your teeth. We insert it to your jawbone, followed by placing the abutment. An abutment is a connector that attaches the stud to the crown. Crowns are artificial teeth that are designed to appear like your natural teeth. After the surgery, only crowns are visible in your mouth.

Why Do I Need Implants?

Implants give you back your natural smile and improve the functionality of your teeth. Once we put them in your jawbone, they fuse with it and become a strong foundation for your missing teeth. Unlike dentures, they do not slip or move from their position. Dental implants are a permanent solution to treat your missing teeth.

  • Dental implants solve your bite problem
  • They treat severely cracked and decayed teeth
  • They are a sought-after option when traditional dentures do not work for you
  • You may opt for dental implants when your jawbone begins to set in

How are Dental Implants Placed?

We will carry out your X-ray to check the position of your teeth and jaw. If you do not have enough jawbone, we may perform a bone graft surgery before the actual procedure. It will make you a suitable candidate for the procedure.

During the surgery, we will numb the site with a local anesthetic and place a titanium stud after making an incision into your jawbone. We will give you some healing time so that the stud fuses well into the bone and act as your natural tooth root.

We will call you for your second appointment and install the abutment after reopening the gum. It is a quick outpatient procedure. At the same time, we will take impressions of your teeth to create a dental crown. Finally, during your last appointment, we will bond the crown.
